Mosquito season is quickly approaching, which means now is the time to prepare for mosquito control. You can help reduce mosquito populations around your home by keeping your property dry and eliminating standing water. Empty or remove water-holding containers such as buckets, unused flowerpots, and bird baths. Make sure roof gutters are clean and draining properly, keep child wading pools empty and turned on their sides when not in use, install or repair window and door screens, and change water in pet dishes frequently. Covering exposed skin, especially in the evenings, and wearing insect repellent are also effective ways to protect yourself from mosquitoes.
