Waluga Park Work Party – Sat. April 13 – 9:30am

Waluga Park is under attack and needs your help! English Ivy is creeping up most of the park’s majestic trees and without help, many of them will die.

The Waluga Neighborhood Association is sponsoring regular work parties to save the trees. We plan to cut the ivy growing up the trees, which will give the trees a chance to live until the City of Lake Oswego can properly treat the park.

Please come to the work party on Saturday, April 13th from 9:30am to noon. You will need to wear sturdy shoes, long pants and long sleeves. Rubberized garden gloves are recommended.

Please bring the following tools if you have them:

  • Loppers
  • Clippers
  • Hand Saw (no power tools)

We will meet in the East Waluga Park parking lot near the covered picnic shelter, rain or shine!

Annual Meeting – October 2012

ANNUAL MEETING – With Root Beer Floats

In October we held our annual meeting with the largest attendance ever. Some think it was because we prepared root beer floats for everyone at the close of business. Others – more serious – think it was because our local star geophysical engineer, Allyson Pyrch, who has investigated earthquakes and earthquake damages all around the Pacific Rim, came and spoke about what to anticipate in our neighborhood when the next quake strikes. Whichever, the meeting brought out a crowd of 35, the largest we have ever had.  Continue reading

Neighborhood Picnic – August 5, 2012

We held our third annual picnic in the shelter in East Waluga Park on Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2012. About 80 people showed up with a dessert or a salad, and we provided the hamburgers and veggieburgers, courtesy of our local Albertson’s Supermarket. Our purpose in these celebrations is to begin building relationships, conversation by conversation, knitting together the fibers of a community. And we think we’ve gotten a good start.
