Residents are invited to help our neighbor get his yard and gutters ready for winter. Please join members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church as we pull weeds (the pulling is easy since the ground is so dry), attack the wild blackberry bushes, and clean the gutters on Sunday, September 13th. Lunch and water will be provided. Where: 15650 Quarry Road When: Sunday, September 13th from 11am — 3pm Stay for as long or as short a time as you like. How: RSVP to Becky Brown at 503-244-1797 or becky.brown@comcast.net so we know how much food and water to have. Details: Bring your favorite gardening tools. We will need a ladder or two for the gutter work (it’s a one story house), loppers, pruners, hand saws, shovels, and rakes. Wear sturdy shoes, a long sleeves shirt, long pants, and gloves. Don’t forget your gloves! You might want to mark your tools for easy retrieval. The city of Lake Oswego is providing a large dumpster. You might want to bring a debris bag so you can fill it and not have to make a lot of trips to the dumpster. |

Lake Oswego Mayor Kent Studebaker was in our neighborhood May 2nd to inaugurate the new playground at East Waluga Park, as well as other enhancements such as new landscaping and a new accessible-ramp to the picnic shelter.
The mayor, along with members of the Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation District and the Waluga Neighborhood Association, cut the ribbon to unveil the expansive new playground. The City also sponsored activities for the whole family, including face-painting, group exercises, and a balloon artist.

The mayor also thanked the Waluga Neighborhood Association (WNA) for their work on a recent Neighborhood Enhancement Program grant. Working hand-in-hand with the City, about 20 volunteers recently planted new shrubs, ferns and trees along Quarry Road in front of East Waluga Park.
The mayor also cited Friends of Waluga Park, a volunteer group sponsored by WNA that works to protect the natural areas of Waluga Park. Friends of Waluga Park has “Freed the Trees” from the scourge of English Ivy throughout the entire south half of East Waluga Park. They have also removed fence posts and trash, and recently repelled an invasion of noxious garlic mustard.
WNA would like to thank the mayor for his participation and the Park and Recreation Department for their beautiful enhancements to East Waluga Park. WNA also wants to thank all its volunteers who helped beautify and protect the park.
The Waluga Neighborhood Association (WNA) was awarded a Neighborhood Enhancement Program grant to re-beautify part of our area with new plants, shrubs, trees and mulch. Working in conjunction with the City of Lake Oswego Parks Department, about 20 volunteers planted drought-resistant shrubs, ferns and trees along Quarry Road in front of East Waluga Park. The intrepid volunteers also spread two loads of mulch between the road and pathway.
WNA would like to thank all its volunteers, as well as Mark Touhey and Sage Hemmer from the City. Our neighborhood has truly been enhanced!

The Waluga Neighborhood Association also donated to the City of Lake Oswego for the creation of a memorial plaque for our honored Board Member, Ron Anderson. The City placed the plaque on the newly refurbished bench on the Quarry pathway.
